About the PRCCEH

The Philadelphia Regional Center for Children’s Environmental Health is an NIEHS grant-funded center dedicated to developing and supporting innovative research and transitional programs focused on children’s environmental health issues.
The Philadelphia Regional Center for Children’s Environmental Health strives to improve the health and wellness of children across the country, by first starting in our own backyard: Philadelphia and the surrounding region.

The children in our area face many environmental threats and health problems– asthma, lead poisoning, air pollution and toxic chemicals. Our newest focus area is climate change. Together, our partners and member researchers work to implement real world solutions and interventions in Philadelphia to serve as a model for success elsewhere.

The Center was founded in December 2021 at the University of Pennsylvania and the Children’s Hospital of Philadelphia, and our membership includes researchers from 7 other regional institutions and universities.

In September 2023, the Center was awarded an Administrative Supplement to add climate change as a focus area. We are looking for temporary and/or student workers to assist in this work.
