Yu-Chin Lien is a Research Assistant Professor of Pediatrics at the University of Pennsylvania and Children’s Hospital of Philadelphia. Yu-Chin’s research interests are largely directed towards decoding the molecular mechanisms, in particular epigenetic modifications, that link oxidative stress and mitochondrial dysfunction to human diseases.
With the multi-omics approaches, her work is focused on investigating the association of aberrant intrauterine milieu with developmental origins of adult disease, such as type 2 diabetes, and the role that epigenetic modifications play.
Yu-Chin’s the other research project is to study the role of placental insufficiency in pregnancy complications, especially spontaneous preterm birth, and the mechanisms underlying race and sex disparities.
