Associate Teaching Professor | Drexel University

Usha Sankar, PhD, is an Associate Teaching Professor in the Biology Department at Drexel University. Prior to joining Drexel in January 2024, Usha was a Senior Lecturer at Fordham University, NY. Her research is at the intersection of air quality, health outcomes, and climate change.

She is one of the co-founders of Project FRESH Air (Fordham Regional Environmental Sensors for Healthy Air) at Fordham University. Project FRESH Air is a group of community engaged citizen science courses that aim to work with local communities by installing small, low-cost air quality sensors to measure the local air quality in the Bronx and the greater NYC area and providing data-centered, grade-appropriate curricular material for middle and high school New York City students. This is a collaborative effort among university faculty, undergraduates, public school teachers, and middle and high school students.
