Thea Golden is a Research Assistant Professor in the Department of Obstetrics and Gynecology at the University of Pennsylvania. Her research focuses on pregnancy complications such as preterm birth, fetal growth restriction and COVID-19. She also researches gestational exposure to environmental toxins such as endocrine disrupting chemicals.
Using human samples and rodent models, she studies the effect of gestational exposures and maternal diseases on maternal circulating extracellular vesicles, placental dysfunction, and childhood outcomes. The goal of her research is to identify novel pathways of placental dysfunction to improve pregnancy health and neonatal outcomes.
