Assistant Professor of Pediatrics | Children’s Hospital of Philadelphia

Kathryn Hamilton is currently an Assistant Professor of Pediatrics and Co-Director of the Gastrointestinal Epithelium Modeling Program, Division of Gastroenterology, Liver, and Nutrition at the Children’s Hospital of Philadelphia and University of Pennsylvania Perelman School of Medicine. Her laboratory was established in July, 2017, and focuses on understanding new cellular and molecular processes in intestinal epithelial cells in the contexts of regenerative medicine and inflammatory bowel disease (IBD).

As part of her research program, her lab uses patient-derived 3D organoids (enteroids and colonoids) to evaluate new mechanisms underlying pediatric and adult IBD. In addition to her scientific endeavors, she is committed to fostering diversity, equity, and inclusion in biomedical research (and beyond).
