Erica Korb, PhD

Assistant Professor | University of Pennsylvania

Erica Korb is an Assistant Professor of Genetics at the Perelman School of Medicine and a member of the Epigenetics Institute. The Korb lab works at the intersection of neuroscience and epigenetics with the goal of understanding how our environment can change the expression of our genes. The lab focuses on chromatin, the complex of DNA and histone proteins that wrap up DNA to control gene expression, and its role in learning, memory, and neurodevelopmental disorders. We use methods such as genome-wide sequencing, microscopy, biochemistry, neuronal culture, and mouse models, with the goal of understanding the mechanisms that lead to the creation of new memories, our ability to adapt to our environment, and the development of neurological disorders.
