Aimin Chen, MD, PhD

Professor | University of Pennsylvania

Aimin Chen is the Co-Director of the Philadelphia Regional Center for Children’s Environmental Health. He is Professor of Epidemiology in the Department of Biostatistics, Epidemiology and Informatics at University of Pennsylvania Perelman School of Medicine. He focuses on child development (before and after birth) after exposure to:

  • Lead;
  • endocrine disruptors, such as flame retardants;
  • air pollution; and
  • other chemicals such as mercury, cadmium and DDT.

Aimin’s research projects enroll study participants from pregnancy, and follow the children to examine the effect of an individual chemical or a mixture of chemicals. The findings help design exposure reduction strategies, and guide environmental health policy.
