Healthy Schools, Healthy Children

In conversation with  Sarah Evans, PhD, MPH, Assistant Professor, Department of Environmental Medicine and Climate Science, Icahn Mount Sinai. Introduction by Kirstyn Bonetti, Board Member, Institute for Climate Change, Environmental Health, and Exposomics

A healthy school environment that includes access to clean air and water and safe spaces to play is critical to children’s health and well-being. Although children spend as much as 20% of their time in school, more than half of the school buildings in the US are in need of critical structural improvements. Through case examples, Drs. Maida Galvez and Sarah Evans will share common concerns in the school environment and discuss steps that schools and families can take to ensure optimal environments for learning.
