The Brain in Focus: Environmental Exposures, MRI, and Adolescent Brain Health

Megan K. Horton, PhD MPH works within the ongoing longitudinal birth cohort in Mexico City called PROGRESS. In this webinar, she will discuss cutting edge research linking early life metal exposure reconstructed from baby teeth with structural and function brain changes measured using magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) in children and adolescents. She will also discuss how metal exposures may increase risk for mental health concerns in children, including anxiety, depression, and maladaptive risk taking. Dr. Iliyan Ivanov will share his insights on the use of imaging techniques in clinical practice and the role the environment plays in impacting, understanding, and treating adolescent mental health conditions.

Doctors, researchers and community members meeting together.
