Wildfire Smoke Exposure in Kids: How to Mitigate Health Effects

Children are particularly vulnerable to wildfire smoke, and we will review the increasing literature on wildfire smoke health effects in children. Health providers should understand how to access reliable air quality information, the limitations of low-cost sensors, and how to improve indoor air quality. This lecture will empower providers with this information.

A short Q&A will follow the presentation.

Objectives
Upon completion of this course, participants will be able to:
  1. Identify health effects of wildfire smoke that have been well-documented in children.
  2. Describe potential mitigation strategies for prevention of wildfire smoke health effects in children.
  3. Locate sources of reliable pediatric environmental health information.
