Effective Health Communication and Health Literacy: Understanding the Connection
This 1 hour webinar introduces the concepts of health literacy and health communication, outlines components of clear health

Children are exposed to environmental chemicals every day that are linked to negative health outcomes including obesity, diabetes, and neurocognitive disorders. Although there is extensive evidence that these chemicals are hazardous, clinical teaching and practice has changed little to reflect this advance in scientific understanding. This continuing medical education course aims to translate current children’s environmental health research on chemicals of concern into clinical practice by a) describing key chemicals of concern including bisphenols, phthalates, and per- and polyfluoroalkyl substances (PFAS), b) detailing their health impacts, and c) educating clinicians on how they can advise patients on reducing their exposure and when additional clinical care may be required. This hybrid course will consist of four modules, three lectures, and one Q&A session, and last approximately four hours.
